Every career has a story.
Some begin with a carefully planned path. Others start with an unexpected opportunity, a mentor who saw potential, or the courage to say "yes" to something new. When we look back, it is often the people we met along the way who made the greatest difference.
As we celebrate Women's Month, I find myself reflecting on the incredible women who are part of our IIBA South Africa community. They are Business Analysts, Product Owners, Consultants, Leaders, Mentors, Volunteers, Students and Change Makers. They lead transformation programmes, solve complex business challenges, mentor future professionals and, perhaps without even realising it, inspire others simply by showing what is possible.
This month is an opportunity to recognise those contributions, but it is also about creating visibility. When someone sees a story that resonates with their own journey, they begin to believe that they belong too.
Throughout August, we will be sharing the stories of women from our community. Some are well-established leaders, while others are only beginning their careers. Their experiences are different, but they all have something valuable to teach us about resilience, growth, continuous learning and the impact that Business Analysis can have.
You'll also have the opportunity to join our LinkedIn Live Coffee Chats, where members of our Board and Community will share their career journeys, lessons learned and practical advice in an informal conversation. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just discovering Business Analysis, I hope these discussions leave you encouraged and inspired.
While this campaign shines a light on women, it is equally important to acknowledge the people who walk alongside us.
Progress is never achieved alone.
I am incredibly grateful to serve on a Board where our male colleagues actively support, encourage and champion the women around them. They celebrate our successes, create opportunities for us to lead, and remind us that inclusion is not a women's initiative, it's a shared commitment.
That spirit of collaboration is what makes IIBA South Africa such a special community. We are at our best when we learn from one another, challenge one another and celebrate one another's achievements, regardless of gender. Together, we build stronger teams, stronger organisations and ultimately a stronger Business Analysis profession.
To every woman who has shared her knowledge, volunteered her time, mentored someone, spoken at an event or quietly made a difference behind the scenes, thank you. Your contribution matters, and your story deserves to be told.
And to every ally who continues to encourage, support and advocate for women in our profession, thank you for standing with us. Progress is something we achieve together.
I invite you to join us throughout August. Read the stories, join the conversations, celebrate the remarkable women in our community and, perhaps most importantly, encourage someone who is just beginning their own journey.
Because today's inspiration could become tomorrow's leader.
