IIBA® SOUTH AFRICA (IIBA®-SA) announces its new BOARD members for 2020

The South African Chapter of International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 28 November 2019 and 3 new members: Sonia De Abreu, James Neethling and Khethelo Malinga were welcomed onto the Board.

Lucy Davies has stepped down as President of the South African Chapter after a 2-year tenure at the helm. Edward Ngubane, who has filled several roles on the Board over the past few years, has been appointed as the new President of IIBA®-SA. On his appointment as the next IIBA®-SA President, Edward Ngubane has this to say “I am honoured to be trusted by my colleagues in the BA community to lead this organisation to new heights. It is a daunting, yet great opportunity to serve beyond measure. I am surrounded by a great team and have the support of the IIBA®-SA members and volunteers. I am confident that the next two years will be exciting and great, regardless of whatever challenges we may encounter”.

“As I handover IIBA®-SA Presidency to a very competent and composed Edward, I wish him a term of courageous conversations and the passion to move the business analysis community to new strengths through his diverse and dynamic Board. It has been a wonderful journey for me being involved over the last 10 years and I look forward to watching the sustainability of IIBA®-SA through the work of others.” says Lucy Davies as she hands over the reins to Edward.

“I am very excited to be on the IIBA®-SA board” says Sonia de Abreu who will be taking over the Membership Experience Portfolio from Melissa Botha.  Sonia has been a volunteer for the JHB region of IIBA®-SA since 2017 and have always been in the shadows assisting in arranging events and manning the Contact Us email address. “I feel that it is time that I leave the shadows and come into the forefront and make a difference, at least try to make a difference in one way or another. I am excited to take on the position of looking after the membership portfolio, as I understand how important it is to encourage fellow BA’s to join not only IIBA international but to also be a part of the IIBA®-SA Chapter. I believe that there are exciting times ahead for 2020 and hope to be part of the excitement and assist other inspiring Business Analysts to also be excited for the year ahead.”

James, who has taken over the Treasury Portfolio from Edward says: “It is a great privilege to be able to continue to support and grow the BA community by joining the existing IIBA®-SA Board.  I look forward to working with the Board and our amazing volunteer community to support and expand the reach of the IIBA in South Africa to make it the home for all business analysts”.

Khethelo Malinga, who has been co-opted to the Board, is a Management Consultant with over 10 years banking experience. She has a great passion and respect for the Business Analysis profession and as such endeavours to get involved with all aspects of Business Analysis. Alongside her post graduate studies in Financial Information Systems, she is an internationally Certified Business Analysis Professional and an IIBA volunteer.  “I am honoured to serve on the IIBA®-SA board and look forward to contributing meaningfully to the improvement of the profession, the professionals and the society at large.” says Khethelo.  Khethelo will be taking over the Operations Portfolio from Trevor Joubert.

Oluwakorede Asuni will remain in his position as Secretary while Melissa Botha will continue managing the Professional Development and Technology Portfolios.  Deidré Forbay will continue managing the Marketing, Communications and Branding Portfolio.

The Board expressed their appreciation to the outgoing Board member Trevor Joubert, who is also stepping down after one year on the Board, for his service and commitment to the Business Analysis community over the past years
