IIBA® ECBA™ Certification: A game changer for entry level Business Analysts

Dear Business Analysis Practitioner/Enthusiast

How does the IIBA® Certifications programme cater for individuals entering the field of business analysis who are passionate about joining the business analysis profession and are looking for a certification to give them a head start, but do not have the hours required for the CCBA® or CBAP® certifications?

The ECBA™ certification is aimed at new and aspiring BAs entering the business analysis profession. A new certification scheme launched in Oct 2016, it is the first step to understanding what Business Analysts do, why business needs them and how they can add value.

In addition to the details contained in this email, we are hosting a free webinar for anyone that would like further information.  The details are below;

Event Title: Becoming ECBA Certified Webinar with Guest Speaker Francois Combrinck
Date:  30 March 2017
Time: 18h00 - 19h00
Venue: Online Zoom Session
Registration: https://iibasa.wildapricot.org/event-2494502

Francois Combrinck, Head of Professional Development for IIBA®-SA, made the following observation on the impact the ECBA™ certification will have on the South African market:

“The IIBA® Certifications are accepted as the gold standard in Business Analysis certification and demonstrate your commitment to continuous learning and the Business Analysis profession.

The ECBA™ certification therefore creates the unique opportunity for you to set yourself apart from all other aspiring Business Analysts by confirming that you subscribe to an internationally accepted standard of Business Analysis practice.

You will find that studying for the ECBA™ exam by reading A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) is a very rewarding learning experience that empowers you with some great tools to really make a difference wherever you are working.

While the more advanced certifications require some work experience, the ECBA™ requires no work experience at all. So, all you need to do is attend the necessary training (even online training will do), write the exam and reap the rewards. (Speaking of rewards, research has shown that certified Business Analysts earn, on average, 16% more than their non-certified colleagues - source: Randstad.ca)”

The ECBA™ Certification is the first step to having knowledge about Business Analysis, the next step is using this knowledge and gaining some experience.  Unlike CCBA® or CBAP® it doesn't have any pre-requisite of work experience, so candidates such as graduates or professionals aiming to switch over to a BA career can apply. This certificate also validates basic Business Analysis knowledge in the recruitment process.

IIBA.org mentioned the target audience for this certificate:

  • Individuals entering the BA profession:
  • Students enrolled in BA academic programs
  • New graduates
  • Professionals transitioning careers
  • Functional managers who are not BAs but manage them

The ECBA™ Certification will be a 1 hour multiple choice exam.  The prerequisites to write the ECBA™ are: 1) having a school leaving certificate (Matric), 2) reading the BABOK v3, 3) attending 21 hours of business analysis focused training and signing the code of conduct.

So, what are you waiting for? Set yourself apart from the crowd and register for your certification today.
